Folding mirrors shut off my Equinox EV

I discovered something really weird today while taking my Equinox EV through the car wash. Like I always do with my cars, I folded the side mirrors in before pulling in. But when I got back in the car was dead! The security light was on, and no matter how many times I pressed the brake, nothing happened.

After a bit of trial and error, I unfolded the driver’s mirror, and suddenly the security light turned off, and the car started again. Just to be sure, I folded the mirror back in and the car shut off instantly.

Is this some kind of safety feature to prevent driving with the mirrors folded, or is this a glitch? Has anyone else had this happen?

That sounds like a bug, not a feature! No way Chevy intentionally designed the mirrors to kill the car’s power. It might be a faulty connection between the mirror controls and the security system. If it happens every time, I’d have the dealership check for a firmware update or loose wiring issue.
