Hey everyone! Today, I put some items on the front seat of my Equinox, and the car started by itself. This has happened before. I turned it off, got out, and it started again. I turned it off again, but it didn’t shut down until the 1-minute timer expired. I checked the manual but found nothing. Called the dealership, and they made an appointment for Monday, saying, “Yeah, this stuff is pretty new to us.” I’m confused. Anyone had this experience with their Equinox?

Maybe it’s a sensor issue? Some EVs have automatic start features, but it shouldn’t be happening like that. Could it be picking up a signal from your key fob? I’d try moving the key fob farther away when you’re inside and see if that makes a difference. At least the dealership is looking into it, hopefully, it’s a quick software fix.

Hey, you tossed it on the driver’s seat? That’s the only spot that controls the start-up. Are you sure the car actually fired up, or did the dash just flash with the charge bar? That’s totally normal, btw.
