Level 2 charger??

In the process of getting a level 2 charger installed for our new equinox 2LT.
Is it worth the extra cost of having a smart charger?
I thought I could manage the charge thru the Chev app instead.

While the Chevy app allows you to manage your Equinox's charging, a smart charger has more features, such as the ability to remotely monitor your car's charging status and schedule specific charging times to benefit from off-peak electricity rates. If you're content with using the app to manage your charging schedule and don't need these extra features, a basic Level 2 charger might be enough.

My electric company’s got this thing where they require specific smart EV chargers to track usage and apply the off-peak discounts for energy used at night. But honestly, unless you’re geeking out over extra features, spending more on these chargers doesn’t really add up.
