I love the Equinox EV. Im eyeing the 2LT trim and thinking of ordering it next week. But I cant seem to decide between sticking with the FWD or splurging on the AWD. I know AWD gives better traction and stability but it comes with a shorter range of 285 miles compared to the 319 miles on the FWD. So is it worth it to go for the AWD despite the extra cost and lower range or should I just go with the FWD? Its just a matter of weighing the options. What do you think??

choosing between the FWD and AWD has its pros and cons, FWD has lesser potential maintenance cost and can help you save fuel costs. AWD on the other hand is just like you said, it costs more but it gives you a better traction and stability. If you're usually driving in snowy or slippery conditions then AWD is the best option because it ensures your safety because of better traction and stability. If you just drive within the city or highways then FWD is the better option because it can help you save fuel and maintenance costs in the future.

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV 2LT comes in two versions:
  • Front-Wheel Drive (FWD): This is the standard setup with a single motor. It's got 213 horsepower and decent torque, and Chevy says I can go up to 319 miles on a single charge.
  • All-Wheel Drive (AWD): This one has two motors, which means more power – 288 horsepower and even more torque. But the trade-off is shorter range, estimated at 285 miles.
The Equinox EV is a compact SUV that can seat five people. I can also choose from 1LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS trim levels depending on the features I want.

If all versions, both FWD and AWD, come with the same 10-module/85 kWh battery pack, and the FWD versions offer 213 HP while the AWD versions deliver 288 HP, then I’d definitely go for the AWD.

Both are great choices. If you prioritize range and cost, go FWD. For better traction in tougher conditions, AWD's worth it. What’s your typical terrain?
